Let's start with the good first, our waiter Evan was attentive and even a tad apologetic at the snails pace of the service at the table. Well this time the experience was even less impressive. but were willing to give it a second try. The first time we tried Maple and Ash we came away thinking that this was just another over hyped "IT" restaurant. With dozens of 5 star restaurants in Scottsdale, a restaurant needs to be on their "A game" all of the time to be successful. I would have worn my suit, but I just couldn't do it in the heat after wearing it at my conference. I was good in jeans with dress shoes and a nice polo. Yes, be aware that they do have a dress code. I would happily come back again, but make it for a truly special occasion so you can really cut loose and enjoy. We had enough steak and mushrooms left for a gorgeous breakfast the next day while I was standing in my hotel room before going to my conference. We finished up with the mousse, which was not heavy and kept you going. Sommelier was helpful for wine choices and respecting our budget and we ended up with a great reserve chianti. Amazing steaks that were so tender and had great chew to them. We shared an order of the agnolotti, which were just lovely little pillows of goodness, and the bone in dry aged ribeye. The only disappointment was that we really wanted the bone marrow instead, but they didn't have enough. They were fresh and flavorful without any sauces, but the chimichurri style sauce was my favorite. We split the octopus, which had great flavor and texture, along with a dozen raw oysters.
Then we decided to share down the line to maximize our variety of food. We started with an aperitif poured by the. Came here with a very good friend of mine with the intent to indulge and enjoy ourselves for a well-earned special meal. This is a special event restaurant unless you have a lot of coin to spare.
